Question : All my friends are getting into their new jobs or new college and here I am still trying to clear my NEET exam. I sometimes feel very demotivated by thinking about my friends and their achievements. I should have accomplished more by now. What should I do?

Dear Teentalker,

Thanks for reaching out and sharing your concern

Being demotivated is one of the worst feelings. A lot of people like you put pressure on themselves and put themselves down because they think that they haven’t accomplished enough out of all of the time that they have been alive.

It can be easy to get into this state of mind. But the past is the past and the only thing you are in control of is the future.

When you allow yourself to indulge in the past, you fall into the habit of giving up and going through the motions. This habit strips you of motivation and prevents you from making any progress whatsoever.

Everyone has different goals in their life and so the time that they will spend in educating themselves is also different for different careers. Comparing yourself with yourself will only make you feel more miserable and unmotivated. Instead of that try to boost your motivation.

Try to set realistic goals.

Set a long term goal and also break it down to shorter goals and make it clear in your mind.

When you feel you haven’t accomplished much, at that time sit down and write down a list of your accomplishments, skills, and strengths. Once you see it written down, you can easily begin to see your own value.

Hope this helps, if you have any other query do connect online for chat between 11am-7pm or drop us an offline message.
