Question : My close friend recently betrayed me recently and I have also lost a lot of friends in the last two years. I’m feeling really hurt right now, but it is also important to focus on my upcoming board exams. How do I deal with this? Teentalker , 17-year-old
Dear Teentalker,
Thank you for reaching out and sharing your concerns. You must be hurting right now, especially since the person who hurt you was a close friend. You’ve shared a beautiful bond not only with this close friend but with many other people and now that you have no one to talk to, it can get lonely at times. You seem to care a lot about your friends and still, unfortunately, things had to turn out this way.
Here are a few important points for you to keep in mind as it will help you to deal with the current set of challenges you’re facing:
- Please take some time out of your busy schedule and feel free to cry. You might want to include crying in your study schedule as that will give you some relief.
- Dealing with reality can be difficult at times, but it will help you to get over the pain in the long run.
- Try and write a letter to your friends and share your innermost thoughts, but don’t send it to anyone. Instead, just tear it and dispose it off.
Remember, if you don’t acknowledge and give an outlet to your pain, the right way, then it will come out the wrong way. Also, as far as losing friends in the last year of school goes, it is a part of the transition/growing up process. So, no matter what happens, never ever lose sight of your long-term goals and think positive!
Hope this helps, should you have any other query do connect online for chat between 11am-8pm or drop us an offline message.
