Dear Teentalker,
Thanks for reaching out.
Writing as a career option does not have a formal pathway. If you are creative, imaginative and have language skills, you can pursue a career in writing. There are different genres of writing, you can choose one to your liking and start. You can write articles for newspapers, magazines etc. You can choose to be content writer as well in the field of your specialized study or write study materials like text books etc too.
Creative writing is a potential career for those who are interested in writing and have a passion for it. A career in creative writing is an artistic work, and the person who wants to become a good writer must have both creative and language skills. Creative writers are known by several names such as novelists, poets, lyricists etc. A writer is capable of inculcating feelings in a person through his writings. Creative writing requires a lot of research and hard work. A writer has to express his/ her feelings through imaginative ideas and thoughts.
For this, you will either need to study Bachelors in Mass Communication, Journalism, Advertising as per your choice and study Masters or Post Graduate Diploma in Creative Writing.
You can also become a writer in a specific field, for e.g. suppose you choose to study Bachelors in Accounts & Finance, then complete MBA with Finance. You can choose to write articles, books related to accounts and finance or answer queries related to your field in specific parts of a newspaper or magazine.
